Kathi visits Italy, Wed Sep 6, 2023
About 1km from our hotel, we found a nice pizzeria for brunch on our way to meet Ana at the cemetary (?!)
Bosco Verticale
Walking through BAM - Biblioteca degli Alberi Milano park, we stumbled across the fameous Bosco Verticale or Vertical Forest.
Definitely check out the website and wikipedia articles. About 7000 plants including 800 trees. Residents pay $1500/month for gardeners that rappel on ropes to care for the trees. Rent is about 5,500€/month
Parking included. The penthouse flat was offered for $17.5M a couple of years ago.
Cimitero Monumentale
The Cimitero Monumentale was a big surprise for me. I was a bit skeptical about spending a day walking around a cemetary, but wow! The statues and headstones are pretty amazing sculpture and it was a really interesting park.
Shopping for warm weather moto gear for Kathi
I wanted to buy Kathi an Italian motorcycle jacket in Milan, so we took a long walk and a tram downtown to Motorrace Milano - Caschi moto, abbigliamento e accessori where Kathi tried on a bunch of motorcycle jackets. The selection of jackets that fit women well is a bit lacking, but we did find this one and it looks great on her. The shop-keeper was really patient with us, locking the door and taking us downstairs to the stock room. Sorry we didn't take a bunch of pictures during the fitting session.
We also visited a nearby bookstore called Libreria Trovalibri where we placed an order for an Italian copy of Good Omens.
Chris got a lemon and cream gelato at Gelateria Umberto 1934 Milano.
